Year-End Lake Texoma Striper Report-Spring 2019

The spawn seems to be pretty much in full swing here on the big pond. Still seeing lots of big fish coming on the boat almost every day but the small fish are still a little bit hard to find for me. I’m fishing in all depths now as they seem to be from 5-50 feet deep. In the shallows, we are chunking and winding big swimbaits and in the deeper water, I’m fishing A-rigs. I’ve even got onto some fish with slabs the last few days which is my favorite technique. When the fish start to return from spawn they are gonna be hungry and this year’s fish numbers are some of the best we’ve seen in a long time according to the biologist’s reports. Dates are booking fast so don’t wait to book. It’s been a great couple of weeks here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Striper Report-Lake Texoma-Spring 2019

I haven’t really been posting as much as I should but I’m gonna try to do a better job at that. February fishing was really good but I had a couple of days where I just couldn’t get the fish to fire off like I needed them to so I gave away a couple of trips. Since then, the fishing has really picked back up and has been excellent. Still dead sticking, but that pattern should start to change soon. On days when it’s less windy, I like to use flukes. If it’s really windy we use a rigs and just drift them at the depth the fish are hanging at. Both techniques are working very well. It’s that time of year again where I try to encourage all anglers to put back those big double-digit fish. Take a picture and eat the little ones. Big fish pics always look better on the water anyway. I’ve been off for a couple of weeks on vacation with my family but I’ll be back on the water next week and I am looking forward to spring. It’s been a great month here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Year-End Lake Texoma Striper Report-Summer 2019

TOPWATER and SLABS-Lake Texoma

It is perhaps one of my favorite times of the year. Nothing is more fun to me than watching a huge striped bass crush a big topwater bait. I like to use my graph and side view imaging to locate fish and chunk big topwater baits out to them. Just imagine you make that cast, give the bait a few twitches and then a big explosive strike and drag stripping off your reel. That’s been almost every day lately and it will only get better as more fish return from spawning.

Slabs are also one of my favorite ways to catch fish and this pattern will be the way to go for me for most of the summer. Just locate the fish and drop your slab down into the school and hold on tight. Sometimes we reel them up fast and sometimes we bounce them off the bottom according to depth and how the school is looking on my graph. If this sounds fun to you then give us a call to get your group out with me. I only have a couple of days left in May and June’s is booking up fast. It’s been a great couple of weeks here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Summer Striper Fishing Lake Texoma-2019

The fishing remains excellent here on Lake Texoma. We have been limiting out almost every day and double-digit fish have been plentiful. I have been using topwater baits, slabs, and swimbaits to fill the cooler. I haven’t been posting much lately because my dates are pretty full. So If you’re wanting to get out on the water with me this summer you need to call and get your day reserved soon. The lake is about 10 feet high with all the recent flooding but it hasn’t affected the fishing at all.

Most of the fish have returned from spawn and are hungry. I took off this holiday weekend like I normally do and I really needed the time off. If you are planning on being on the lake this weekend please be safe. There is still quite a bit of stuff floating around out there and lots of inexperienced boaters. Its been a great couple of weeks here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Year-End Lake Texoma Striper Report-Fall 2019

Fall 2019-Lake Texoma Striper Reports

The fall weather is finally upon us and the fishing has been excellent. I’ve only had a couple of dates in the last few months that hasn’t limited and all trips have caught fish. The birds have shown up for us and are helping to point the way to feeding fish. I’ve put my topwater baits away until next year and I’m primarily fishing with slabs. The big fish bite will get started soon and I’m betting it will be some excellent fishing this winter.

My dates continue to be booked a couple of months out for weekends but I’m starting to have some open dates on my weekdays. Soon we will be getting our coveralls out and the big fish will begin to feed as they do every winter. The summer boat traffic will be gone and I’m really looking forward to that. It’s been another great few weeks here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!!!

Lake Texoma is absolutely one of the best fisheries in the country, period!!! We endure massive floods, extended periods of drought, bait kills, etc.etc… This lake still produces day in, day out. We boated well over 100 fish today with just a couple of anglers. Another great day on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Lake Texoma Striper Fishing-Topwater Plugs-2019

It’s still topwater season here on Texoma. My weekend dates are full until the end of November but I’ve got lots of weekdays still open. Big fish are just around the corner. Stay tuned! Another great day on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

The topwater bite is still going strong here on Texoma!!! It’s been a long hot month but the fishing has been even hotter. We are catching limits pretty easily lately and these fish now have large schools of bait to keep them going. They are feeding all over the lake and looking healthier every day. I’ve been using pencil poppers to get my box-fish and some days we catch over 100 of those.

I switch to big slabs to get my big fish when I find them with my graph. The lake is really doing well and the fishing this fall should be excellent. I still have lots of weekdays open but my weekend dates are full now until mid-November. If you’d like to get in on some excellent topwater fishing then give me a call and we will find a date for you and your group. It’s been a great month here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Winter Striper Fishing Lake Texoma-2019

Winter fishing has been excellent here on Lake Texoma! Serious anglers know that this is the best time of year to fish if you are wanting to land the big ones. You gotta dress for it but there really isn’t a better time to fish. I’ve been dead sticking five-inch flukes in both pink and banana colors when there is less wind and drifting a rigs when the wind is up to catch these big Texoma striped bass. This pattern should continue to produce well for us through the winter and into spring. Still, have quite a bit of weekday availability in February. Give me a call to get your group out on the water while the big ones are biting. It’s been a great month here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Every year I do my best to get my best clients to come fish with me this time of year and this is why. This is the best time of year to catch a trophy fish. This month has been incredible and I’m awe struck when I think about how fast this incredible fishery has rebounded from the floods of 2015. Lots of big fish are being released this time of year and fishing really couldn’t be much better. I have quite a few dates left this month if you want to try your luck. I’m fishing almost entirely with KC School Em A rigs with Bass Assassin sea shad baits on reels equipped with 65# Pline braid. It’s been a great month here on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

DeadSticking Striper on Lake Texoma-Winter 2019

Here is a little bit of live-action I posted on my personal page today. Keep in mind it is live and you might want to turn your volume down for wind noise. Fishing has been incredible. Lots of double-digit fish. Lots of multiple hookups. All dead sticking a rigs. I have lots of open dates this time of year and we are catching lots of big fish.  For more information about Striper Fishing please follow John Blasingame Lake Texoma Fishing Guide.
