The Artificial Lures Advantage

So why choose a fishing guide on Lake Texoma who only uses artificial lures?

Using artificials isn’t just about catching fish—it’s about becoming part of the process. With John, you’ll cast, retrieve, and work baits in ways that trigger the aggressive strikes striped bass are famous for. You’ll feel the bite, set the hook, and battle the fish from start to finish.

Some benefits of lure fishing with John include:

  • More Action: You’re actively casting, retrieving, and staying engaged the entire trip.

  • Explosive Strikes: Nothing compares to a striper crushing a topwater lure at sunrise.

  • Skill Development: You’ll leave knowing how to fish with slabs, jigs, and plugs that work on Texoma.

  • Cleaner Fishing: No messy live bait to deal with—just pure angling skill.

For anglers who want more than just “dropping a line and waiting,” John’s lure-only style is the ultimate way to experience Texoma.

Seasonal Striper Fishing on Lake Texoma

John guides year-round, and every season brings something special:

  • Spring (March–May): Striped bass push shallow and chase bait. Topwaters, swimbaits, and jerkbaits shine this time of year.

  • Summer (June–August): Early mornings bring schooling fish to the surface, and slab spoons work great when stripers head deep later in the day.

  • Fall (September–November): Striped bass feed heavily, making it prime time for trophy-class fish on artificials.

  • Winter (December–February): Jigging slabs and plastics produces big, heavy fish as stripers school deep.

John tailors every trip to current conditions. Whether it’s chasing surface explosions in summer or jigging deep-water ledges in winter, he always has the right lures and tactics to put fish in the boat.
